About J. Matthew DePetro
Experienced Trial Attorney
I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Denver with my family as a teenager. I have lived in the Denver Metropolitan area ever since. After attending the University of Colorado, Boulder, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I then attended Creighton University School of Law, receiving a Juris Doctorate. I was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 1983, and have practiced all over the State of Colorado in both State and Federal Court.
For over 42 years, my practice emphasis has been and remains in the areas of family law and criminal defense. I have represented over 1500 individual clients in some of the most complex and difficult cases in both of these practice areas.
I am a past President of the Arapahoe County Bar Association, and a former delegate to the Colorado Bar Association’s Board of Governors. I continue to be active in these bar associations as well as donating time and resources to such organizations as the Turelli Foundation for creative dispute resolutions, the Horizons Summer Program in Denver, and other worthy organizations relating to my community.
